PLANT SALE (May 31 - June 1, 2025) RECAP BY DOREEN MONTELEONE
This year, the BCAHS benefit plant sale broke all records! Thanks to our members working together like a well-oiled machine, everything went off without a hitch. This year’s approach was to buy more perennials and fewer large shrubs. We also received significantly more donations from members and the Arboretum. Everything sold except for a handful of annuals!
Just a few stats: We sold about 3,000 plants. About 2,420 plants were purchased wholesale. At least 250 vegetables, herbs and flowers were donated by the BCA Farm and up-potted for sale. Several hundred plants were donated by members or taken from the BCA grounds (tree seedlings). In total, we sold nearly $25,000 worth of plants - exceeding the next highest year by more than $6,500! Thank you to Steve Sisti for making the garden obelisk which we raffled off for a pure profit of $870. Our goal was to net $10,000 which we’ve never been able to do, and we exceeded that by $3,700! Job well done! Can we set a goal of netting $15k next year?
